Selenio™ Network Processor (SNP) is the industry’s first pure-IP media processing platform, supporting uncompressed UHD based on SMPTE ST 2110. This high-density, scalable platform enables media companies to seamlessly transition from SDI to all-IP networks, while adhering to the SMPTE ST 2022-6 and ST 2110 standards.

Built upon Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology, SNP can be easily upgraded to add new functionality. An SNP unit keyed as a Converter and IP Gateway may be upgraded to include multiviewer or JPEG XS encoder / decoder functionality.

VICO-4L/8L-XS

VICO-4L/8L-XS are empowered with the visual lossless JPEG-XS codec and enables conversion of 4K/8K video signals into one ST2110-22 JPEG-XS stream. The conversion is achieved with ultra-low delay.

The chassis can host up two 4K channels within a single 1RU and is equipped with hot swappable redundant power supplies. Encoding and decoding modes can be configured individually per channel.

Appear TV has added JPEG XS compression to its X Platform. Users of the Appear X Platform can, the company says, now take advantage of high resolution and real-time capabilities with the lowest possible latency.

Appear’s X Platform is described as codec-agnostic and is designed to serve as a key building block within an ultra-flexible and ultra-low latency broadcast network. Its design allows customers, the company says, to flexibly execute a broad range of applications including contribution, remote production, video networking, and distribution.

According to Appear TV, the X Platform addresses the latest challenges facing both encapsulated and compressed video applications without compromising visual quality, rack space and ease of use. With a backplane latency of less than 1ms, it is claimed to ensure universal applicability for any video format and supports the implementation of both current and future IP video standards, such as SMPTE 2022-6 and SMPTE 2110.

Carl Walter Holst, CEO, Appear TV, said: “We’re excited to introduce this latest compression standards upgrade for the X Platform. Our X Platform is ideally suited for video delivery for any modern media outlets seeking to deliver existing and next generation video services. In addition to the new JPEG XS and other IP standards, the platform can also receive compressed or uncompressed video from 12G SDI and 40G IP and offer simultaneous support for a broad spectrum of codecs, including AVC (H.264), HEVC (H.265), TICO and JPEG 2000.

Compact single channel IP ST2022-6 card with TICO support

DELTA-ip-ST2022-6 is a dual-port 10GbE card. The main port supports up to three 3G/HD/SD SDI channels embedded in ST2022-6 datagrams with optional support for FEC streams as per ST2022-5, while the second 10GbE port is used for seamless protection switching of datagrams as per ST2022-7.

UHD formats are supported thanks to TICO RDD35 compression.

The Selenio SEL-TCIP1 is a single-channel module for the Selenio MCP1 and MCP3 platforms that supports theTICO mezzanine format for UHD over 3G-SDI and 10 Gig-E. TICO is a low-latency, light-weight compression

technology from IntoPIX. The module can be configured in-field as either an encoder or decoder (Transmitter or Receiver).

The Transmitter (encoder mode) version of this product supports:

One Quad-Link (4x 3G-SDI) UHD video input channel and uses the IntoPIX TICO lightweight mezzanine compression codec and SMPTE ST 2022-6 Encapsulation and 2022-5 Forward Error Correction (FEC) for transport over IP. Alternatively, the TICO compressed signal can be transported as a 3G-SDI stream through

conventional 3Gb/s-capable SDI infrastructure.

The Receiver (decoder mode) version of this product supports:

SMPTE ST 2022-6 de-encapsulation and SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless switching, and it uses TICOdecompression for the reconstruction of one Quad-Link (4x 3G-SDI) UHD video output channel.
